Where it all began…
Annual general meetings and conferences of PAHN have been held since 1992, when a special two day gathering, ‘On with the Show’, was held in the Victorian Arts Centre. Since then, our combined annual meeting/conference has been held either to coincide with the annual conference of AMaGA and more recently with the national ADSA conference when held in Australia. These events are usually held in a suitably theatrical or collections venues and are open to anyone with an interest in Australia’s performing arts history and heritage, with discounted registration fees offered to PAHN members.
Upcoming Conference
Managing the magic and mysteries in our collections
Hosted by the State Library of NSW, 3-4 December 2026

What has changed in the past couple of decades? What lies ahead?
We will take a fresh look at performing arts history and heritage – the changing nature of the industry, discovery platform challenges and opportunities, updates on collections and services, making history and interpreting the performing arts, research data and other topics.
This year the State Library marks its 200th Anniversary with a year-long program of exhibitions and events. The conference will take a behind-the-scenes tour at the State Library to look at ways it is rising to the challenges.
